Privacy
VetER Now works without an account. We collect as little as we can, never sell data, and show no ads.

Your location
- If you allow it, your browser’s location sorts hospitals by distance — on your device. It isn’t sent to us.
- The one exception: when you check in at a hospital, your location is sent once so we can confirm you are within 2 miles. It is compared and discarded — never stored or logged.
- If you type a ZIP code instead, it is looked up through our server using the third-party service Zippopotam.us.
Wait-time check-ins
- Checking in sets a random ID in a cookie on your browser (
veternow_device, kept for a year). We store only a one-way hash of it, used to limit check-ins and match your “have you been seen?” answer. - We store the hospital, your arrival time, whether you were seen or left, and whether your location was confirmed near the hospital. No names, no notes, no coordinates.
- Check-ins are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks your browser to block bots.
My Emergency Plan
Your pets’ details and chosen hospitals are saved only in your browser on your device. We never receive them. A saved copy of the plan page is kept on your device so it opens with a weak signal. Sharing or printing the pet card happens on your device, where you choose.
Usage statistics
- We record anonymous events — page views of the list, taps on Call ahead and Directions, and filter changes — with a random ID that lasts only for the browser tab. No names, emails or IP addresses are stored with them.
- We may also use Plausible Analytics, which counts visits without cookies. It is never loaded on hospitals’ private status links.
Hospitals
With a hospital’s consent we store front-desk phone numbers to text private status links and reminders, sent through Twilio, plus a log of each text. Replying STOP stops them. Status links are stored only as one-way hashes.
Services we use
- Cloudflare hosts the site and protects it; like any host it processes request logs, including IP addresses.
- Supabase stores our database.
- OpenStreetMap serves map images; your browser contacts its servers when you open a map.
- Twilio sends texts to hospitals.
